August 7, 1939 - July 23, 1966
James Harvey Vines, 26, of the Sandy Land community, was killed Saturday afternoon about five miles north of El Dorado. He was born in Marysville the son of Simon W. and Johnnie Corene Williams Vines. He was a transport driver for O. H. Gorman of El Dorado and had been a lifelong resident of El Dorado. Vines was a 1957 graduate of Mt. Holly High School. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Geraldine Allen Vines, his mother and father, all of El Dorado; two daughters, Shirley Ann Vines, El Dorado, Deborah Jean Vines, Joyce, La.; one son, Paul Eric Vines, El Dorado; two sisters, Linda Marlene Vines, El Dorado, Donna Kaye Vines, Magnolia; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Rebecca Vines, El Dorado; one step-grandfather, J. T. Brown, El Dorado. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Marysville Methodist Church with the Rev. Leon Davis and the Rev. George Clary officiating. Burial followed in Marysville Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Pallbearers were Dan Vickers, Buddy Light, Earl Stevens, Stan Gillis, Monroe Jones and Jimmy Williams.
