Gary Lynn Morgan, 60, of Oxford passed away on December 21, 2015 at his home. Born May 30, 1955, in Monette, AR, he was the son of the late J.R. and Vertis Dickerson Morgan.

He was a disabled Air Force veteran, retired nurse, and a licensed Southern Baptist and ordained Universal Life Church minister. He was a member of Oxford Baptist Church, and he was also a great cook and a published poet.

He is survived by his son, Eric Morgan of Nashville, TN, three brothers, Robert “Bob” Morgan of Brockwell, Jimmy Morgan of Port St. Lucie, FL, and David Morgan of Imboden, two sisters, Kathy Verkler of Black Rock and Melinda Morgan of Oxford, two half-sisters, Flora Morgan and Judy Austin of Michigan City, IN, a special aunt, Marie Berryhill of Violet Hill, a special friend, Maggie Clark of Oxford, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, a half-sister, Venita Sue Morgan, and four nephews, Steven Kurpiel and Joey, Tony, and Danny Ray Morgan.

A Memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Oxford Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Conyers and Bro. Author Barber officiating.

Military burial will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Jessie Morgan, Robbie Morgan, Tyler Williams, Austin Morgan, Keaton Morgan, Chris Harris, Edward Jeffery, and Randall Sutton.
