Helen Downs (Mammie Downs), age 86, of Stamps, Arkansas, left this earthly home and went to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord and loved ones gone on before her. She passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Homestead Manor in Stamps, Arkansas. She was born August 31, 1927, in Falcon, Arkansas. Mrs. Downs was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Stamps. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and even a great-great grandmother.
Mrs. Downs was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Robbie Hairston; husband of fifty-five years, Travis L. Downs; son, Kenneth Harlen Downs; and grandson, Dennis Harlen Downs.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hovarter and husband, Larry of Stamps, AR; granddaughter, Vickie Downs Case and husband, Ron of Haughton, LA; two grandsons, Kenneth Wayne Downs and wife, Tanya of Redfield, AR, and Dennis Wayne Hovarter and wife, Diana of Hope, AR; six great grandchildren, Jesse Harlen Downs and wife, Kaitlyn, and Jacob Aaron Downs all of Redfield, AR, Payson Travis and Tatem Elizabeth Hovarter of Hope, AR, Hanna Grace Case of Haughton, LA, and Haleigh Case Petty and husband, Patrick of Monroe, LA; one great-great granddaughter, Madison Paige Downs of Redfield, AR; and daughter-in-law, Lenora Downs Reese of Lake Charles, LA.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, AR, with Bro. T.W. Rains and Bro. Lane Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR.
