George Gardner Derrick, age 90, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Friday, November 15, 2013, in a local retirement center. He was born November 13, 1923, in McNeil, Arkansas and had lived in Texarkana for most of his life.
He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department. He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Becky Plant and Patricia Vanderbilt.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Derrick of Texarkana, Arkansas, two sons-in-law, Tom Vanderbilt of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Jerry Plant of Benton, Arkansas, four grandchildren, Lisa Culp of Texarkana, Texas, Jody Lavender of Texarkana, Texas, Angela Brazil of Benton, Arkansas, and Jason Plant of Jacksonville, Arkansas, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, and one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Sue and Harold Rogers of Magnolia, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A. M. Thursday at the Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas Chapel with Rev. Wallace Edgar and Rev. Bill Saxby officiating.
Burial will be at East Memorial Gardens.
