Oscar Newton Brooks, 84, of Texarkana, Arkansas died Friday, April 15th at his home.
Born January 10, 1927 at Fulton, Arkansas, Mr. Brooks was a lifetime resident of Texarkana.
A veteran, retired from the Borden Company, a member of County Avenue Baptist church, a member of The American Legion, and a Past Master of Texarkana Masonic Lodge # 341, Free and Accepted Masons , Texarkana Chapter # 78 Joppa Council # 48, and Couer De Leon Commandry # 6.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Baird Brooks, a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Judy Brooks of Hot Springs, Ark ; three granddaughters and husbands, Heather and Jason Novascone of Dallas, TX; Shelly and Woody Dorsey of Texarkana, Ark and Erin Brooks of Hot Springs, Ark; and a sister Annie Mae Long of Rogers, AR.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas with Dr. Roger Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at East Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Betty Joyce Baird Brooks, age 81, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Sunday, July 31, 2011, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Brooks was born March 8, 1930, in Vivian, Louisiana and had lived most of her life in Texarkana. She was a member of County Avenue Baptist Church and was a Homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar N. Brooks, and her daughter, Joy Mitchell.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Judy Brooks of Hot Springs, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Heather and her husband Jason Novascone of Dallas, Texas, Shelly and her husband Woody Dorsey of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Erin Brooks of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and one sister, Florence Seale of Texarkana, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A. M. Wednesday at the Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas Chapel with Dr. Roger Copeland officiating.
Burial will be at East Memorial Gardens.
