Mrs. Elizabeth M. Harper Carlock, a long time resident of this city, died yesterday at the home of her son, Tom Harper, five miles east of Huntsville. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Herbert Reynolds at the Baptist church about 2:30 o'clock this afternoon and interment will follow immediately in the Huntsville cemetery.

Mrs. Carlock's death, while expected the past three or four days, will be a shock to most of her relatives and friends who had not already realized she was fatally ill. Not many even knew that she was afflicted with cancer in one side of her face and which came to surface view only recently, and while this affliction doubtless hastened the end, her death is said by her physician to have been mostly caused by a general nervous breakdown which followed the death of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Gaskill, whom she nursed through a long illness. Mrs. Gaskill having died only three weeks ago, or on Oct. 31.

The deceased was a native of Washington county, this state, and was 74 years of age. Most of her life was spent in Madison county. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist church many years and faithful always in her Christian duties. Besides her son, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Harper of near Mante and Mrs. Nannie Bethel of Wewoka, Okla. She was the widow of the late Nelson J. Carlock.
