ROGERS — Benigno "Benny" Santiago Figueroa, age 74, of Rogers passed away April 23, 2014. Benny was born June 17, 1939, in Puerto Rico to parents Benigno Santiago and Antonia Santiago Figueroa.
As a young man, Benny served in the United States Army. He went on to serve as a career civil servant, working in Puerto Rico for the Department of the Navy.
Benny was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, as well as the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, exercising, traveling and working on different projects around the house. Benny was also known for his compassionate and loyal nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Benny is survived by his wife, Carmen, with whom he enjoyed over 50 years of marriage; two sons, Benigno "Jr." Santiago and wife, Yolanda, of Pennsylvania, and Benjamin "Bengie" Santiago of Rogers; daughter, Briseira "Brisi" Santiago and husband, Aurelio Echeverria, of Rogers; sisters, Antonia and Luz Santiago of Puerto Rico; grandchildren, Bryan Jael Santiago, Yolenny Santiago, Angel Echeverria; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3800 W. Walnut, Rogers, with interment to follow.
Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home.
