Obituary:
Otha Temple age 105 of Johnsville, AR died Saturday, December 9th at Bellevue Nursing and Rehab in Monticello, AR. He was born November 29th, 1912 a son of the late David Temple and Maude Orr Temple. Otha attended the Johnsville School which was across the road from his home. At 8 years of age he began working in logging with a team of his Daddy's horses. He later worked on the original road crew that forged the Johnsville road using his team of draft horses, which lead to Warren, AR and is now HWY 8. He worked in the ship yards in Orange, Texas in the 1940's during WWII, later he returned to Johnsville, AR where he began logging timber and farming tomatoes. In the 1980's he and his son James started Temple Forestry and Tree Planting and reforested many acres of timberland in Bradley County and surrounding counties. Otha was a member and elder in the Palestine United Methodist Church, he was the custodian of the Palestine Cemetery fund for decades and looked after the cemetery as well. Otha enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved fox hunting with his friends and his prize-winning dog Fancy. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dovie Mae Lowry Temple, a son James Harold Temple, 2 grandsons, Joey Temple and Jim Doug Ederington, brothers, Purman Temple and Willie Lamar Temple, sisters Maxine Temple Jones and Christine Temple Taylor also preceded him in death. Otha is survived by a daughter in law, Barbara Temple, Queen City, TX. 4 grandchildren Jimmy Temple and spouse Machelle, Johnsville, AR, Theodore John "Ted" Temple, Scottsdale Arizona, Tricia Ann Temple and spouse Evelyn of Florida, and Carole Ann Breashers and spouse Larry, Atlanta, TX. 2 brothers Bradley Temple, Little Rock, AR and Van Temple and spouse Annette, Warren, AR. 5 great-grandchildren Misty and spouse Lance, Jennie, Josh, Christopher, Mathew and spouse Kristian. 9 great-great- grandchildren Scarlett, Autumn, Hazel, Laycee, Abbee, Kylie, Kambri, Annalee and Braxton. Funeral service was 10:00 AM Friday, December 15th, at Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Charles Cauley and Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Linda Barrett was organist. Active pallbearers were Tommy Ferrell, Clay Lowry, Mitch Wardlaw, Danny Raney, Robbie Lowry, Scotty Ferrell, Zane Ferrell, and Jeff Wardlaw. Honorary pallbearers were Donny Ray Lowry, Sonny Raney, Charles Ferrell, Kenneth Ferrell, Billy Ferrell, Carol Temple, Wade Groves, Marty Wardlaw, and Randy Clanton. Burial was in Palestine Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home.
