Ray Mathus Veazey, age 83, of Godfrey Place, AR, died Wednesday, March 16, at BCMC. Born November 24, 1932 in Johnsville, AR, a son of the late Lavoisier Mathus Veazey and Willie Jeanette Martin Veazey he was a retired boilermaker, member of Palestine Methodist Church, a Shriner, a U.S. Air Force veteran and the widower of Betty Lou Thomason Veazey who died December 31, 2010. They were united in marriage October 18, 1952. Also preceding him in death were sons Gary "Mike" Veazey, Stephen Veazey; sisters Vivian Ferrell, Mary James. Survivors are 3 daughters Pam Veazey, Godfrey Place, AR, Tanya Smith Carter, Monticello, AR, Robin Veazey, Richmond, TX. 1 brother Gene Veazey, Monticello, AR. 14 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 19, at Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Charles Cauley and Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Linda Barrett was organist. Burial with flag presentation was in Palestine Cemetery by Frazer�s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Billy Smith, Danny Smith, Jason Wershiemer, Michael Milliken, Anthony Williams, Kenneth Tawkoyty, B.J. Sivils, Christopher Ray Veazey and Matt Kelly. Honorary pallbearers were Jonathan Smith, Tristan Smith and Hunter Berry.
