Janath Marie "Jan" Morris (nee Tidwell), at home with the Lord on, Wednesday, October 22, 2014.

Cherished mother of Candace Ann Harris, Cynthia Renee (Joseph) Murphy, and Caren Lynn (David) Shepard. Loving and special Nanny to Christopher (Rhonda) Lamke, Missy Lamke, Eddie (Erica) Lamke, Elizabeth Montgomery, April (Chris) Dubbe, Michael (Brooke) Murphy, Jacob Shepard and Matthew (Chelsea) Shepard. Dear great grandmother of Ryan Lamke, Abigail and Edward Ray Lamke III, Jessica, Matthew, and Katie Montgomery, Connor Murphy and Alya Dubbe, and Michaela Murphy, and expectant great grandmother of one. Dear sister of Charles "Buddy" Tidwell, Howard Tidwell, Tommy Tidwell, France's Cheek, Kathern Preslar, and Lee Adkins. Our dear sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, great great aunt, cousin, and friend.

Jan was born in Fordyce, Arkansas to Charles and Fannie Tidwell. She attended Fordyce grade and middle schools and graduated High School correspondence. She later attended clerical school. She married James Harold "Hal" Ellegood and they eventually settled in St. Louis where their children were raised. Jan stayed at home for many years but later worked for McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) where she received several awards. Hal and Jan divorced and she later remarried and settled in Bearden, Arkansas, where she graduated from cosmetology school. She became a hair instructor for the State of Arkansas and then operated a private salon. Jan attended First Baptist Church of St. John with her girls here in St. Louis, First Baptist Church of Bearden, and although she was unable to attend, she recently moved her membership to Fee Fee Baptist Church where she could feel their ministry, thanks to a loving and dedicated pastoral staff.

Jan was an outstanding cook and a talented and accomplished seamstress. She made matching outfits for her girls (often without a pattern), awesome costumes for her grandchildren, curtains, and many wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She was a Worthy Matron for the Eastern Star and at one time owned and operated "The Diner" in Bearden Arkansas. At different times in her life she enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf, crossword puzzles, and game show network. Two things Jan NEVER did: She NEVER complained and she NEVER said "NO". When asked, she always happily did for, cared for, and provided for others. When her children were little she was a Girl Scout Leader, she taught baton and Sunday School, and did charity work for Children's and Shriner's Hospital. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren without reserve. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Oakland Cemetery in Fordyce. In lieu of flowers, the Family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Kitchen Fund of Fee Fee Baptist Church, 11330 St. Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton, MO 63044.
