George Randolph Dean, 86, of Hot Springs, formerly a long time resident of Fordyce, died Saturday, March 19, 2016 at his home. Born July 23, 1929 at Fordyce, he was the son of the late Webster Smith Dean and Myrle Jordan Dean. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fordyce where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher of Boys Youth, and a Training Union teacher. He worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring on December 31, 1984 after thirty-seven years of service. He also served in the AR National Guard, and was a Mason.
He was also preceded in death by his son, George Randolph "Randy" Dean, Jr. and a sister, Martha Dean McLean. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Gill Dean of Hot Springs; daughter, Deborah Dean Tull and husband Dana of Hot Springs; granddaughter, Lauren Tull Williams and husband Josh of Bryant; great-grandchildren Carter Dean Williams and Kennedy Grace Williams of Bryant; sister, Clara Dean Richardson and husband Marvin of Fort Smith; and beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 pm at the Chapel with Rev. Rusty Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Fordyce. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Fordyce or to The American Heart Association.
