December 18, 1961 - August 24, 2019

Appleby, Barbara L. Age 57, of St. Paul, MN passed away from complications of colon cancer on August 24, 2019 at home surrounded by family and friends. We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of our straight-talking, curious and irresistible friend, who was beloved by people across the country. Barbara was born in Madison, WI. She graduated from St. Catherine University in St. Paul. She was a longtime leader in public radio fundraising. In addition to creating data-based tools used to assess fundraising performance and potential, she played a critical role at WNYC in New York City in its effort to generate the financial support to replace its destroyed transmission facilities immediately following the 9/11 terror attacks. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, James. Survived by mother, Carole; sisters, Anne (Dennis) Larson, Laura (Bill) Fagan, Trish (Steve) Appleby; and many friends and extended family. A service is at 2 p.m., Sept. 29 at the Carondelet Center, 1890 Randolph Ave., St. Paul, MN. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with lunch following the service. Interment at Oakland Cemetery, Fordyce, AR. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to further honor Barbara may consider a contribution through GoFundMe
