Born in Smoland, Sweden (per his WWII registration).
He was born Karl Peter Oskar to Johanna Mathilda Petersdotter and Andrew Johan Ahlstrand. He came to USA before 1900. He worked for the railroad - MO & AR Railway. He married Helen May Addy on June 25, 1905 in Red Oak, Montgomery, IA.
Death was caused by stomach cancer and heart failure.
Father of four children: Fay, Frances, Lorena and Oscar, Jr.

Oscar Sr. AHLSTRAND came to the USA from Sweden in the 1890's to help build a railroad from Kansas City, Missouri to Port Arthur, Texas, to provide rail access to the Gulf of Mexico. The railroad construction was financed mainly by Dutch and Swedish investors. The chosen route brought the railroad through Arkansas where Oscar Sr. settled after the railroad was constructed to help manage the operations.
