Robert Norris Pickett Sr., age 83, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Texarkana, Texas

Mr. Pickett was born May 30, 1925 at Ashdown, Arkansas. He was retired from JJS Distributors, a member of First Baptist Church, Nash, lifetime member of the DAV and a U.S. Navy veteran having served with the Seabees in WW II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma J. Pickett and a daughter, Gilda Nichols.

Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Virginia and Chuck Pilant of Sherman, Texas, Pam Pickett of Texarkana, Texas, Jerry Nichols of Texarkana, Texas; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dallas and Kathy Pickett of Lake Dallas, Texas, Bobby Pickett of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Pauline Renfro of Texarkana, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law, Bo Abel of Orange County, California, Zettie Gibson of Batesville, Mississippi; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at East Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dennis Whitmire and Rev. Ed Eaton officiating. Burial with military honors will be under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
