McKINLEY Mr. J.R., age 82, resident of De Queen, died Friday, May 15, 1998, in Columbia De Queen Regional Medical Center. He was born August 5, 1915 at Wolf, Oklahoma. He was a retired newspaperman and former editor of the De Queen Daily Citizen and De Queen Bee, a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army Air Corps, a long time member of the De Queen Lions Club, former member of the Ark. Parks and Publicity Commission, a member of the Associated Press, a Methodist, and a prominent civic leader in De Queen and southwest Arkansas for the past forty years.
He is survived by his wife, Wynne Gray McKinley of De Queen; two sons, Bob McKinley of Houston, Texas, and Brad McKinley of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Barbara Wynne McKinley of Houston, Texas; five grandchilden; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. McKinley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 1998, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Fish officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
