Joy Copeland Alexander, 97, departed this life Friday, December 30, 2011. Born October 12, 1914,she was a long-time resident of Delight, Arkansas.

Survivors include sons Wallace Alexander and wife Dolores of Delight and Harold Alexander and wife Jenene of Searcy, Arkansas; and daughter Lynn (Mrs. Don) England of Searcy.

Joy was a faithful member of the Delight Church of Christ for about 85 years. She was married to Flanoy Alexander of Delight, a bond that lasted almost 67 years, when he predeceased her on May 5, 2001. He was a long- time owner and manager of Alexander Printing Company and Gospel Light Publishing Company in Delight. After her children were away from the home, Joy also worked in the company office.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren Brian Alexander and wife Cindy of Little Rock ,Arkansas; Brent Alexander and wife Donna of Delight, Blaine Alexander of Cabot, Arkansas; Donna (Mrs Scott) Westerman of Sherwood ,Arkansas; Mark England and wife Julianna of Searcy, Stacey (Mrs. Brian) Cox of Cabot, Kristy (Mrs. Marshall) Brown of Rogers, Arkansas and Scott Alexander and wife Heather of Dallas, Texas. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren.

Joy was the daughter of the late J A and Georgia Copeland. J.A. was a well- known preacher of the gospel in the first half of the twentieth century in southwest Arkansas. Joy was one of the Copeland's 13 children, all of whom predeceased her, and she had a special bond with her identical twin sister, Floy.

Memorials may be sent to Harding University's Flanoy and Joy Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 12238, Searcy, Ark., 72149.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the building of the Church of Christ in Delight, and will be conducted by family. Sympathy messages may be sent to www.latimerfuneralhome.com.
