Bald Knob, April 14 - J. A. Adkins aged about 60, former member of the legislature from White county, and for many years president and salesman for the Bald Knob Fruit Growers Association, died Saturday afternoon in a Little Rock hospital.
Mr. Adkins was a farmer, cattleman and large landowner. He raised as well as bought cattle here for many years. He was a member of the Arkansas legislature in 1931-1932. Mr Adkins was a thirty-second degree Mason, and a member of the Shrine and the Consistory at Lille Rock, as well as the local Blue Lodge.
He is survived by his wife; five sons, Harding of Chicago, Morris of Chicago, member of the police force there, Brown of Hot Springs, Ben of Hot Springs, and Bert Adkins of Bald Knob, associate with his father in the cattle business; two daughters, Mre. Dorothy Swantz and Miss Vera Adkins, both of Bald Kob; a brother Ben; two half sisters of Williamsburg, Ky. where Mrs. Adkins was born.
