Gene Smithson of Ashdown, AR passed away on August 10, 2019. Mr. Smithson was born in Nashville, AR on October 2, 1941, to Edgar and Kathleen Smithson.
He served in the United States Marine Corp and was a Vietnam Vet. He retired from Domtar Mill in Ashdown, AR. He also served on the Little River County Quorum Court for 28 years. Mr. Smithson was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Rogers.
Survivors include; his wife, Ann Smithson; his son, Roger Smithson of Greenbrier, AR; one daughter, Lori Jackson of Texarkana, AR; one brother, Carroll Smithson of Nashville, AR; one sister, Ruth Cooper; and 4 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, August 12, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, August 13, 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist in Ashdown. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery in McCaskill, AR. Bro. Butch Riddle will be officiating.
