HINDSVILLE — U.S. Veteran, Johnny Edward Evans, 71, of Hindsville, died on July 23, 2016, at his home. He was born Sept. 13, 1944, in Madison County, the son of Elbert Evans and Neva Rebecca Secrest Evans Vaughan.
John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a house painter for several years, and he and his wife owned and operated a chicken farm.
He is preceded in death by his father Elbert Evans. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Shipp Evans, of the home; a daughter, Cynthia Evans Leibbrand and husband Jeremy of Neosho; his mother, Neva Rebecca Secrest Evans Vaughan of Springdale; three sisters, Sharon Shepherd and husband Donald Ray of Hindsville, Shirley Dixon of Goshen, Mary Evans Pollard and husband Jim of Alexander; two grandsons, Brett Vaughan and Race Vaughan of Neosho; and a multitude of family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Mount Zion Free Will Baptist Church followed by burial with military honors at Burkshed Cemetery which is next to the church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home, online guestbook at www.heritageofnwa.com.
