Charles Norwine Cannon, Sr. 86 of Fordyce died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 in Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born July 4, 1921 in Crossett, Arkansas. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fordyce and was a retired pilot for the Naval Air Force. He was also an assistant to Dallas County Judge Troy Bradley for 12 years and pilot for Harry Russell. He was also an avid golfer and sportsman. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Nell Norwine Cannon, his first wife and mother of his children, Virginia Morgan Cannon and the godmother of his children Lucy “Tunk” Darling. He is survived by his wife, Inez Gilbert Cannon of Fordyce; one son, Charles N. Cannon, II of Hot Springs; two daughters, Cindy Adler of Lufkin, TX and Ceca Cooper of Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and special friend, Buster Garlington of Fordyce. Visitation will be Friday 4pm until 6pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce with Rev. Hammett Evans and Rev. Andy Hughes officiating. Burial at Oakland Cemetery in Fordyce. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Fordyce, St. Jude’s Hospital, Arkansas Children’s Hospital or the American Heart and Lung Association.
