Edward Alton Thornton, age 74, of Lockesburg, Arkansas met his Lord and Savior at Heaven’s gates on March 8, 2005.
Alton was born September 18, 1930 to Pat and Helena Little Thornton in the Rock Hill Community. He was a retired logger, farmer and rancher. He served Jesus as an Elder in the Lockesburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and was active in many areas of the Lord’s service. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior as a teenager at Rock Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Yvonne King Thornton; one son, Travis Don Thornton; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Louise and Harris Clay, Helen and Earl Teague, Viola and Art Thomason, and Mildred Bismark; and one brother, Thomas Thornton.
Alton is survived by a son, Bink Thornton of Lockesburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Aaron Sexton of Huntington, AR; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Jerry Killian of De Queen; five grandsons, Trey Thornton of Lockesburg, Justin Thornton of Nashville, AR, Travis Cooper, Trevor Cooper, and Noah Sexton, all of Huntington; a host of relatives and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Friday, March 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Lockesburg. Burial will follow in the Odd fellows Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10, at the funeral home.
