WEST FORK — Lurena Owen Bercher, 86, of West Fork died Nov. 17, 2002. She was born May 22, 1916, in Leonard, Texas, to Thomas Eugene and Celia Stevens Owen. She grew up in east Texas and graduated with a bachelor of science degree from East Texas State Teacher's College/Texas A&M in 1935. She was a teacher in east Texas for nine years. She and her husband moved to West Fork in 1962. Her husband Josef W.J. Bercher died in 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Josef W.J. Bercher Jr. of Hanford, Calif., and Thomas Eugene Owen Bercher of Cranston, R.I.; four grandchildren, Thomas Eugene Owen Bercher Jr. of the home, Steven Glen Bercher of Hindsville, Brian Cecil Bercher of Providence, R.I., and Sarah Lee Reeves of Chico, Calif.; six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at West Fork Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Harry E. Gibson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
