Duane Allen Yerina, 50, of Magnolia, Arkansas died August 19, 2011 at his family farm in Falcon, Arkansas.
Duane was born September 28, 1960 in Bay City, Michigan and came to Arkansas to attend the University of Central Arkansas at Conway (UCA) with a baseball scholarship and where he received a Master’s Degree in Physical Education. After graduating from UCA he found employment at Gurdon High School in Gurdon, Arkansas and assisted in starting the baseball program. He later became the Head Baseball Coach and led the team to the State Finals. He moved to Magnolia in 1990 and was currently employed with Albemarle. He was an avid hunter with a passion for nature. He loved to hunt, fish, and play golf. He loved his family with the same passion and had a special place in his heart for his grandson, Grayson.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Yerina of Magnolia, Arkansas; sons, Chad West of Magnolia, Arkansas and Todd West of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; parents, Tom and Martha Yerina of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Kayla Yerina and their daughter, Katy of Dover, Arkansas, Gary and Gwen Yerina and their daughters, Brittany and Aubrey of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Kevin and Linda Yerina and their children, Ashley, Devynn, James, and Greg Daffron of Russellville, Arkansas; and grandson, Grayson West of Magnolia.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August, 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation with the family will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Yerina, Gary Yerina, Kevin Yerina, Chad West, Todd West, Mike Gass, Danny Jamerson, and Jon Bailey.
