Obituary:
Claude Hannon Wilson Jr., 77, of Magnolia died Monday, July 16, 2018 at the John R. Williamson House in El Dorado.
A private family graveside service with military honors was held on Wednesday, July 18 at the Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Tompkins officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia.
Claude was born May 19, 1941 in Magnolia to the late Claude Hannon Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth (Gunnels) Wilson.


He is survived by his wife of 58 years Jeanette (Summerlin) Wilson of Magnolia; children, Sarah Annette Davis and husband Larry and Scott Hannon Wilson, both of Magnolia; granddaughters, Hannah Elizabeth Wilson of Hope and Sarah Rachel Davis of Little Rock; great-granddaughter, Rhesa Lynn Wilson of Hope; brother, Larry Don Wilson and wife Debbie of Magnolia; niece, Ashley Daniel of McKinney, TX; nephews, Chad Wilson of Texas, Jason Wilson of Magnolia, and Erich Wilson of Kansas; cousins, Bette Hollensworth of Magnolia, Joan Vincent of Vermont, and Roger Wilson of Magnolia; and one fur baby Trixie.
Claude had 38 years banking experience with First National Bank in Magnolia which consisted as a file clerk, bookkeeper, proof operator, teller, assistant cashier, with promotions to assistant vice president, vice president, senior vice president, operations manager and cashier, and compliance officer.
Claude’s education included being a graduate of Magnolia High School, attended Southern Arkansas University (Southern State College), a graduate of Bank Administration Institute of Personnel School, Union National’s Bank Supervisor School, Arkansas Bank Management School, and Arkansas Bank Compliance School.


Claude’s professional memberships include the American Society of Personnel Administrations; Board of Directors of the Arkansas Cash Network, where he served as secretary-treasurer; committee member of Arkansas Bankers Association; served as justice of the peace for eight years; Columbia County Fair Board member for numerous years serving as treasurer, vice president, and president; past treasurer of Columbia County Cattleman’s Association; charter member of the Farmer’s Cooperative; charter member of the Optimist Club; business chairman of Columbia County Cancer Society; member of the Columbia Wildlife Association; Magnolia Housing Authority Board of Commissioner’s vice chairman and chairman; treasurer of the American Heart Association, Easter Seals, and the United Way; vice president and board member of Magnolia Kiwanis Club; board member of the South Arkansas Development Council; member of American Tree Farm System; member of the American Legion; and has fully endowed a SAU Scholarship.
He was a lifetime resident of the Lydesdale community and Magnolia; previous cattle and chicken farmer; active timber farmer; avid fisherman and hunter; served in the United States Army in the 238th Transportation Company at Camp Leroy Johnson in New Orleans, LA as a SP5 and in the Magnolia Reserve Company for seven years; he was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church; was a Master Mason with membership in Columbia Lodge No. 82; Royal Arch Mason with membership in Columbia County Chapter No. 147; Royal Select Master with membership in Columbia Council No. 74; and a 32nd Degree Mason with Arkansas Consistory Scottish Rite Free Masonry of Little Rock.
