Obituary:
Doris McAnulty Dees, 77 of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Dubuis Hospital in Texarkana, Texas after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born in Magnolia on November 27, 1936 to the late Henry Clem and Edna (Kyle) McAnulty. She grew up on a dairy farm and often reminisced about those days.
Doris retired from Southern Arkansas University after twenty years of service in administrative positions.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Magnolia where she was involved in many activities throughout her lifetime. She loved her Faith Sunday School Class whom she considered to be a very special group of people. She was also involved in WMA Circle 1.
Since retirement she has enjoyed her Bible study group, Bridge Club, Koffee Klatch, traveling and fun with family and friends.
Doris, also known as GaGa by her grandchildren, was a sweet and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty five years, Joe Dees; daughters, Lavona Perry and husband Kelly of Texarkana, Jana Davis and husband Brad of Little Rock, Arkansas; son Andy Dees of Magnolia; grandchildren, Mandy Voliva and husband William of Morrilton, Lee Perry of Texarkana, Marissa, Rachel, and Carson Dees of Magnolia; and Lilly Davis of Little Rock; great granddaughter, Madison Harper of Morrilton; sister Merle Wynn and husband, Nelson of Magnolia; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia. A graveside service will be Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery and a memorial service at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Magnolia with Bro. David Watkins and Bro. Roger Dunlap officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Faith Sunday School Class.
Memorial donations may be made to the Columbia County Community Foundation, PO Box 9441, Magnolia, Arkansas 71754 for a local service project to be determined by the family.
