Obituary:
Vertie B. Gorman, age 85, of Hermitage, Ark., died Saturday December 25, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born August 8, 1919 at Ingalls, Ark., a daughter of the late L. O. Childers and Lucy Cox Childers. She was a retired employee of Pine Lodge Nursing Home in Warren and a Baptist. Survivors are 2 sons Gary Wayne Johnson, Benton, Ark. and Ricky Gorman, Mt. Pleasant, Tex.; 3 daughters Barbara Slaughter, Sue Janet Courtney and Cathy Rose Baggett all of Warren, Ark.;1 sister Annie Bumgardner, Benton, Ark.;15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. 2 husbands Albert Johnson who she married April 20, 1940 and he died December 24, 1944 and Troy Lee Gorman who she married July 8,1947 and he died October 2, 1985.; 2 brothers J. O. Childers and Eurie Childers; 3 sisters Vera Mae Ramsey, Eva Couartney and Mertie Hamilton and a grandson Terry Thomason also preceded her in death. Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Monday December 27, Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery at Ingalls by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Roy Thomason, Daniel Anders, Stacy Ward, Billy Baggett, Jr., Shane Baggett and Bruce Baker. Honorary pallbearer was Michael Anders.
