Obituary:
Mildred Ann Baker Sanders was born on August 23, 1927 in Vick, AR, the first child of Boyed Baker and Cora Mae Clanton Baker. She died on May 7, 2013 in Conway, AR at the age of 85. She lived her early life on the family farm at Ingalls, AR, attended schools in Ingalls and Warren, and was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church. Following her marriage to Urney Alvis "Sandy" Sanders, Jr. in 1948, she was a homemaker, living in many states as they followed Alvis's career as an ironworker and later as owners of a construction company. Although they traveled widely, they made many return visits to Bradley County and eventually retired to the Ingalls home place of Boyed and Cora Mae Baker, lovingly known as "the farm", and a welcome gathering place for family and friends. Mildred and Alvis made their home at both Ingalls and Conway in their later years. She was preceded in death by her parents, by Alvis, her best friend and beloved husband of over sixty years on March 29, 2009 and by her son-in-law, David Shockley on March 24, 2012. Survivors include her son, Boyed Alvis Sanders and wife, Frances, and her daughter, Carol Ann Shockley, all of Conway; two sisters, Eva Nell McKinney of Warren and Beatrice Ferrell Davis of Poquoson, VA; three grandsons, Alex Sanders and wife, Wendy of Conway, Brett Shockley and wife, Leigh Anne of Arkadelphia, and Nick Sanders and wife, Erin of Conway; and four great-grandchildren Cole Alvis Sanders, Lily Raine Sanders, Bethany Nicole Sanders and Madison Anne Shockley. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 11, at Frazer's Funeral Home in Warren, AR. with Rev. Wayman Mann and Rev. Lamoyn "Buddy" Boykin officiating. Linda Barrett was organist. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery in Ingalls, AR. by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Alex Sanders, Brett Shockley, Nick Sanders, Steve Simmons, Randy Clanton and Bryce McKinney. Honorary pallbearers were Hollis Clanton and Pat Hormann.
