Obituary:
Madge Huitt York age 83 of Hermitage, AR died Thursday, April 24th in Star City, AR. She was born November 26th, 1930 in Ingalls, AR a daughter of the late Oscar W. Huitt and Lola Baker Huitt. She was a retired teacher with over 30 years of teaching, having taught in the Wilmot, Vick and Hermitage Public Schools. She graduated Vick High school and attended Arkansas A & M earning a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Education. After retirement she worked as Liberian for the Southeast Arkansas Regional Library System in Warren. She was a member of the Hermitage Baptist Church and a Bradley County Medical Center Ladies Auxillary. Also preceding her in death was her husband Paul David York who died January 6th, 1983 and a brother Royce Wilford Huitt. Survivors include her son, David York and spouse Connie, Jefferson, AR and a daughter Chrystola Tullos, Rison, AR. 2 brothers Jerry Huitt, Ingalls, AR and Jimmy Huitt, Glencoe. Minn. A sister Lizzie Best, Hermitage, AR and 5 grandchildren Tanya Strader, Tara York, Trinity Brown, Jesse Tullos and Wendy Walmsley. 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 2:00pm Monday, April 28th at Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Ty Huitt and Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and soloist were Melvin Mills, Tonya Strader, Tara York and Trinity Brown. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Billy Best, Tommy Best, Randy York, Danny York, Jerry Strader, Revel Huitt, Roy Huitt and Joe Huitt. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Huitt, Larry Huitt, Wayne Huitt, Bob Calloway, Carl Calloway and Steve Huitt.
