James Robert (Jim) Rankin, age 79, died on February 2, 2018 at Mt Vernon Veteran's Home. He was born in Plainview, Texas on August 28, 1938.
His parents, Thurston and Muriel (Brown) Rankin; sister, Mary Ann Crawford and husband Charles; son William Michael (Mike, Bill) Rankin; and granddaughter Marcie Rankin preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, three daughters; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Jim farmed and raised his family in Eudora, Arkansas.
He retired as a Captain from the U.S. Military after serving 22 years.
After retirement, he moved to Golden, MO and was a member of the Golden Baptist Church.
Jim will be remembered for his humor and affection.
He loved playing Santa during the Christmas season.
He was an avid sportsman and a member of the Buckshot Hunting Club.
Jim was pleased that his 'wild game suppers' expanded to the formation of the Delta Men's Association.
Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on February 24 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope, AR.
Memorials may be made to the After School Program at Golden Baptist Church, PO Box 245, Golden, MO.
