Mrs. Jessie Ruth Jones Abney, age 86, resident of De Queen, died Monday, May 20, 2002 in Brookewood Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Carlton officiating. Private interment followed in Redmen Cemetery.
She was born June 20, 1915 in Hopkins County, Tex., to Benjamin and Zula Jordan Jones; was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church; a retired nurse's aide; and a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Billy Thomas Abney; and two daughters, Virginia Abney and Edna Collins.
She is survived by a son, Frederick Abney of De Queen; a daughter, Donna Charles of San Antonio, Tex.; three sisters, Glentis Reeder of Klammath Falls, Ore., Mary Jo Campbell of Phoenix, Ariz., and Zula Reagan of Dublin, Tex.; four grandchildren; and six great-grand-children.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at the funeral home.
