Edgar Charles Johnson, Sr., 72, died June 18, 2010. He was a Master Mason in the Blue Lodge and served in Missouri 77 in Chidester, AR as Treasurer. He was a carpenter and a lifelong member of Missouri Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant and Virgie Stinnett Johnson and one sister, Rogene Diffee.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Sarah Johnson of Chidester, AR; three sons, Thomas Johnson and his wife, Donna of Benton, LA, Jerry Johnson and his wife, Kristi of Plain Dealing, LA, and Edgar Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Jenny of Chidester, AR; two daughters, Estella Gutierrez and her husband, Victor of Frisco, TX and Sherry Hesterly and her husband, Patrick of Benton, LA; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Edward Johnson of Keithville, LA, Roger Johnson of Shreveport, LA, Donald Johnson of Rison, AR and Dewey Johnson of Shreveport, LA; one brother-in-law, Dale Diffee of Malvern, AR; a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. He will be remembered for the great loves in his life, his wife and family, his church, the Masons, and his land. He loved caring for his land with his tractors. He was a gentle soul who left a giant footprint. He will be truly missed. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be Monday, 2:00 p.m. at Proctor Funeral Home followed by interment at Missouri Cemetery near Chidester.
