When George Washington Lawson was born on August 8, 1873, in Hawkins, Tennessee, his father, Elias, was 39 and his mother, Barbara, was 37. He married Delia Elizabeth Sansom on December 23, 1894, in Faulkner, Arkansas. They had nine children in 23 years. He died on August 15, 1956, in Mayflower, Arkansas, at the age of 82.
