When William Newton Sansom was born on June 3, 1851, in Water Valley, Mississippi, his father, John, was 26 and his mother, Martha, was 20. He married Lucy H Nunn and they had three children together. He then married Mary E. (Molly) Patrick and they had nine children together. He died on July 4, 1918, in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 67, and was buried in Mayflower, Arkansas.
