Deloyd Orville Byram, 88, passed away on Dec. 12, 2017, in Greenbrier, Tennessee

Deloyd was born in Forty Four, Arkansas on Feb. 6, 1929, the oldest of Eudene and Orville Byram’s seven children. He married Lorene, the love of his life, on Oct. 21, 1950. On June 3, 1951, they started a new adventure and moved from Arkansas to Kansas City, Missouri. Deloyd started work at the railroad the next day. In 1952, he got a job at General Motors (from which he would retire in 1982).

He and Lorene bought their first house in Kansas, in 1954, and also managed rental properties. In 1986, Deloyd got a dealer tag and created D & L Used Cars. In 1999, he and his wife bought 75 acres in Winchester, Kansas, where they gardened, had fruit trees, and tended cattle and chickens. After Lorene passed away, Deloyd moved to Tennessee, in 2015, to be closer to his son, Randy, and family. This year he fought through some health challenges, but had recovered and was ready for Christmas. An accident took him from us, to be with those already gone from our sight but never from our hearts.

Deloyd enjoyed hard work, finding the fun in everyday moments, being busy, having long talks with family and friends, and playing Rook during the holidays.

Apart from his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Eddie; his parents; his sister, Dortha; and his grandson, J.D.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Vaughn (husband, Robert) and Randy (wife, Emily); his eight grandchildren, Jason and Vanessa Vaughn, Jill, Chris, Deloyd (wife, Jamee), Troy, J.D. and Beau Byram; and his brothers and sisters, Delon, Devon, Gerald, Vela and Mary.

His visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at 11 a.m., the service following at 12 noon, at:
Roller-Crouch Funeral Home 1008 Main Street, Melbourne, AR 72556.

And that of his wife,
Ila Lorene Byram

Ila Lorene Byram, 80, passed away on April 16, 2014, at her home in Leavenworth, Kansas, after a long illness.

Her service will be held on Saturday, April 19th, at 11:00 AM in the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel at 1008 Main Street in Melbourne, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in the Melbourne Cemetery following the service.

Lorene was born a twin, May 20, 1933, in Forty Four, Arkansas, to Daniel and Lola Layton. She married Deloyd Byram, Oct. 21, 1950. They moved from Arkansas to Kansas City, June 3rd, 1951. Three children came of their union: Barbara, Eddie and Randy; and seven grandchildren: Jason and Vanessa Vaughn; and Chris, Jill, Deloyd, Troy and J.D. Byram.

Lorene worked at American Can Company in Kansas City, Missouri, and at the Hacienda Café in Kansas City, Kansas, but she preferred her job as wife and mother. She also enjoyed gardening, attending church, playing Rook and working on astrology charts.

She was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Byram, her parents, Daniel and Lola Layton, and her twin sister, Nila Florene Claxton.

She is survived by her husband, Deloyd; her children, Barbara (husband, Robert) and Randy (wife, Emily); and brothers: Emil, Arthur, Leonard, and Remil Layton.

We appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this time.
Our Love, family of Lorene Byram.
