When Erskin Amos Langston was born on October 23, 1890, in Wooster, Arkansas, his father, Hugh, was 36 and his mother, Charlotte, was 33. He married Martha Annie Burkett on January 23, 1910, in Faulkner Township, Arkansas. They had nine children in 22 years. He died on October 6, 1959, in Morrilton, Arkansas, at the age of 68.
