Bobbie C. (Douglas) Smith, 89, died June 6, 2010 at Magnolia Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 14, 1921 in Magnolia, AR., the daughter of Stella (Campbell) and Robert Douglas. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings, brothers Roy, Gaylon, Woodrow, Jack, and sisters Cora Douglas, Myrtie Bustion, Claudie White, and Audie Bryan.
She is survived by Floyd Smith, her husband of 69 years; two sons, Leonard and his wife, Barbara, of Rock Springs, Wyoming,; and Larry and his wife, Bobbie, of Fallbrook, California; seven grandchildren, Doni and husband, Michael Hampton, of Elkhart, TX; Bruce Smith and wife Felicia, of Tyler, TX; Todd Smith and wife Debbie, of Plano, TX; Scott Smith and wife, Leigh, of Tyler, TX; Julie Smith, of Sheridan, WY; Jason Smith of Rock Springs, WY.; Laura and husband Randy Popp, of Williamsburg, VA ; and nine great-grandchildren, Reed, Ryan, and Julie Hampton, Christopher Malko, Olivia and Harrison Popp, Brady, Brooke, and Jake Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker, wife, mother, and good friend to many members of the Magnolia community. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She and Floyd married on December 23, 1940, and began their life together in Magnolia, living briefly in Dumas, Arkansas, where her two sons were born, and returning to Magnolia, where her husband managed the Continental Emsco Co. The family moved to Shreveport, LA in 1958, when her husband was transferred. They were transferred to El Dorado in 1967. When her husband retired from the company in 1978, they returned to Magnolia where they have lived ever since.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Central Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Family visitation will be Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Smith, Brady Smith, Todd Smith, Scott Smith, Reed Hampton, and Michael Hampton.
