LynNell (Dumas) Broom, 95, of Magnolia, Arkansas died Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia. She was born July 11, 1914 in Emerson, Arkansas to the late William Eugene and Atna (McMahen) Dumas.
LynNell has been a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Magnolia since 1948. She was a member of the Sertrucha Sunday school class and was actively involved in the WMA and many church activities. LynNell’s life was dedicated to God first, family and friends second and selfless service to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, James Alonzo Broom; brother, Herbert Dumas; and sister, Ferol D. Boyd.
Survivors are her daughters, Laura Neill and late husband Bob Neill of Magnolia and Phyllis Waller Kasko and husband Carl of Mobile, Alabama; sons, Jim Broom and wife Sharion of Magnolia and Tommy Broom and wife Suzanne of Magnolia; grandchildren, Traci and Scott Rowland of Magnolia and their children, Trent and Garrett; Stephanie and Donald Westerman of Hot Springs and their children, Ashley, Brock, and Kacey; Teri and John Skogerboe of Lake Elmo, Minnesota and their daughter, Sara; Jennifer and Ben Spehlmann of Vienna, Virginia and their children, Conner and Lauren; Brady and Amanda Broom of Cabot and their children, Kinley and Hannah; Erin and Brannon Collier of Taylor and their children, Luke and Jack; Dan and Dana Broom of Taylor and their daughter, Emily; Kim and Randall Glass of Texarkana and their son, James; and Andy and Heather Broom of Wooster; sister-in-law, Nettie Cooper of Shreveport, Louisiana; four nieces; and special friend and neighbor, Glenda Stroman.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. David Watkins officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 318 East Main, Magnolia, AR 71753.
