Marlene Green Dendy Herring, 83 of Magnolia, Arkansas formerly of Village, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, Arkansas.
She was born on September 26, 1933 in Gurdon, Arkansas to the late Robert Dewey Green and Zelma (Burris) Green. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Pilot Club.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Melvin B. Herring and Sam K. Dendy; a step son Paul Herring; an infant brother Robert Edward Green; her siblings and their spouses, Evelyn Watson, Joy and Lyle Shocklee, Ronald and Jean Green, Tom and Marlene Green; and Louise and “Red” Raborn, Betty and Ott Cheatham.
Marlene is survived by her children, James M. Dendy of Conway, Arkansas; Deborah Dendy Walker and husband Barney of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Tim and Gaileen Dendy of Little Rock, Arkansas; brother Charles and Pauline Green of Texarkana, Arkansas; sisters, Brenda and Joe Shaw of El Paso, Texas and Terry and O.D. Smothers of North Little Rock; five grandchildren, Mecca and Chad Hutcherson of Paragould, Arkansas, Michael Dendy of Paragould, Matthew Dendy of Conway, Michael “Ray” Allen, Jr., Michelle Nicole Allen, and Jacob Marshall Walker all of Bossier City, Louisiana; step daughters, Donna and Mark Eades and Janet Street all of Magnolia; a step daughter in law Joan Herring of Waldo, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephew and friends. The family would like to thank Life Touch Hospice and Marlene’s caregivers, Barbara Cheatham, Tonitte Turifoy, and Maria Wilson for the many years of special care and kindness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mike Seabaugh officiating and Bro. Steve Ford assisting. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia, AR. Visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or to the Parkinson’s at www.parkinson.org.
Pallbearers will be Barney Walker, Danny Cheatham, Mike Shocklee, Les Turk, Ricky Raborn, and Clayton Hines. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Dean Shocklee, Bobby Cheatham, Ray Green, and Russell Raborn.
