Glen Dale Marshall, 82 of Conway, passed peacefully at home Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Glen Dale was born March 10, 1927 in Oppelo, AR to the late Holmes Bob and Lillie Jane (Clifton) Marshall. He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Ben Fulmer and four brothers, Ty, Fred, Robert and Norman Marshall.

Glen was a WWII veteran. He served his country as a member of the US Naval Amphibious Forces in the Pacific area of operations. He was extremely proud of his service in the Philippean Islands, on Okinawa, and at Tsingtao (now known as Qingdao), Taku and Tientsin (now known as Tianjin) in North China while assigned to Group Pacific (GROPAC) 13. He left the United State aboard the US Navy Attack Transport (APA-33) USS Bayfield and traveled as a passenger aboard other naval vessels including the US Navy Attack Cargo Ship (AKA-77) USS Towner and the US Navy Vehicular Carrier and Troop Transport (LSU-6) USS Montauk. He remained billeted aboard the Self Propelled Barracks Ship (APB-41) USS Wythe while assigned to the Garrison Boat Pool at Taku and Tientsin. He returned to the United State aboard the SS Dashing Wave. For his service, he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal; Navy Occupation Service Medal (Asiatic-Pacific): China Service Medal; American Campaign Medal; and the World War II Victory Medal. He did sheet metal work, working at Nuclear One in Russellville from 1972-85. He was a lifetime member of the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, Local Union No. 36. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. After retirement, Glen traveled extensively especially enjoying the southwest. He had a great appreciation and love for all of God's creation.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ida (Evans) Marshall of Conway; children Bobby Marshall and wife Cindy of Morrilton, Cindy Oaks and husband Tony of Conway, and Tammy Fulmer and husband Bill of Conway; siblings Willie Marshall of Perry County and Syble Roberts of Conway; grandchildren Brad Oaks, Ryan Marshall Bailey, Clint Oaks, Katy Fulmer Young, Lauren Marshall, and Autumn Oaks Reaves; great grandchildren Cassie Oaks, Megan Dusek, Marshall Bailey, James Kunz, Gracie Young, Cameron Kunz, Jordan Bailey, and Jacie Wilson; and will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and all who knew him.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home, with Chaplain Tom Edwards officiating.

Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery, with pallbearers Brad Oaks, Clint Oaks, Mark Bailey, Jerry Kunz, Jimmy Young, and Jeremy Reaves, and honorary pallbearers Alfred Crabtrey and Ben Fulmer.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home, 1751 Dave Ward Dr., Conway, AR 72034

Ida Alice Evans Marshall, loving wife and mother, joined her husband, Glen Dale Marshall, grandson, William Benjamin Fulmer, great grandson, Marshall Ryan Bailey and brothers, Floyd and Robert Evans in Heaven on May 3rd, 2017. Ida was born to Floyd and Jessie Evans on June 14, 1934 in Otway, Ohio. She met her husband, Glen Dale in a little cafe in downtown Otway. They settled in Arkansas but loved to travel the country. One of her favorite pastimes was arrowhead hunting with one of her favorite nieces, Carolyn Platt. The only thing she loved more was cooking for her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Cindy Oaks, Tammy (Bill) Fulmer and Bobby (Cindy) Marshall, all of Conway; sister Naomi Human of Otway, Ohio; grandchildren, Brad Oaks, Ryan (Mark) Bailey, Clint Oaks, Katy Fulmer (Ryan Leding), Lauren (Jerry) Kunz, Autumn (Jeremy) Reaves, Kayla, Amber and Ryan Sutton; and 10 great grandchildren. The family will be receiving guests at the home of Ida Marshall 1281 Lillie road on Thursday evening at 6pm Visitation will be Friday, May 5th at 12pm at Griffin Leggett in Conway. Funeral service will begin at 2pm with interment immediately following at Mayflower Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brad Oaks, Mark Bailey, Jeremy Reaves, Jerry Kunz, Ryan Leding and Ryan Sutton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARORA (Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency) in memory of Benjamin Fulmer and Marshall Bailey.
