Helen Carroll, 74, of North Little Rock passed away Sunday, November 20, 2005. She was a member of Graves Memorial Baptist Church in Oak Grove. She was a cheerleader at North Little Rock High School and graduated in 1948. After graduating she worked in radio and television, and for Governor Win Rockefeller. She had a passion for piano, which she played and taught for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Carroll, of North Little Rock; two sons, John “Skip” Carroll and wife, Sandy, of Houston, Texas and James Franklin Carroll, of North Little Rock; daughter, Cindy Smith and husband, Randy, of Oak Grove and five grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Graves Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday at Graves Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mayflower Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.northlittlerockfuneralhome.com.

Bill Dean Carroll, 89, of North Little Rock, passed away August 17, 2018. He was born May 18, 1929 to the late Charles Leonard and Sylvia (Chandler) Carroll, in Little Rock.

He was a graduate of North Little Rock High School where he played basketball and was a heavyweight wrestling champion. Bill served in the U.S. Navy for eight years as a Class A Radioman during the Korean Conflict.

Bill worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad for seven years. He was retired from the NLR Police as Captain after 22 years of employment.

He was a member of the Little Rock Racing Pigeon Club and was a founding member of the Lake Conway Bass Club. He was an avid fisherman, a HAMM radio operator and a Morse code operator for the Navy and telegrapher for the railroad. At the age of 72, he was ranked number one in the United States Morse Code Competition.

He was the most giving, compassionate and caring man. He was a blessing to all he came in contact with as well as a caregiver to his wife and many others. He always had a smile for everyone, even as he struggled with Parkinson’s.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Helen Irene Lawrence Carroll; brother, Charles L. Carroll and sister, Patricia Ann Carroll. He is survived by his children, Bill Drescher of Coarsegold, CA; John “Skip” Carroll (Sandy) of Sugar Land, TX; Cindy Carroll Smith (Randy) of NLR; James F. Carroll (Barbara Show) of NLR; grandchildren, Bart, Amber, Chad, Brandon, April and Justin; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Graves Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mayflower Cemetery.
