1847 - 1935
Josephine Louisa (1847) Brockington was born on December 13, 1847, in Indianola, Mississippi. She married Jesse William (1845) Boyd on September 17, 1871. They had eight children in 15 years. She died on July 7, 1935, in Mayflower, Arkansas, at the age of 86.
Jesse William Boyd, had been a Confederate Soldier in the Sixth Regiment , Mississippi Calvary at the age of seventeen and had fought at the battle of Bryce's Crossroads in northern Mississippi under the command of General Nathan Bedford Forrest.* Jesse William died of pneumonia March 9, 1891, the result of having cut wood in a freezing rain for a neighbor family who had no wood nor any way to get wood. Jesse William is buried at Ebinezer Cemetery near the Community Church on Camp Ground Road in Cabot, AR. The cemetery can only be reached by requesting permission from the neighbors to view the grounds. There are bronze plaques on the graves of Jesse William and his wife. He was a short man who wore a full beard and had thick black or dark brown hair. He had piercing, deep set eyes. He was a good farmer and family man.
