More than 92 years ago, William and Ruby Tuberville were blessed with a son, William Partee. Little did they know on that day in Stephens, Arkansas, what an impact their son would have on so many lives in his sphere of influence in Columbia County and throughout the state of Arkansas.
Partee Tuberville led a full and active life with bountiful blessings of a loving wife, family, friends, and community members. Through his life, numerous individuals experienced his kindness, genuine spirit, and authenticity as a leader in his community.
He grew up in Emerson and graduated from Emerson High School in 1943. In high school, he was a member of the State Championship basketball team and later went on to play for the Muleriders basketball team at Magnolia A&M College (now SAU). As a graduate of SAU, he was proud to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996.


Partee proudly served his country during World War II. As a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he was a bombardier and a flight officer during his tenure in the military and also served as a training officer.
After the military, Partee devoted his professional career to the banking industry. In more than 40 years with First National Bank of Magnolia, he held multiple positions with his last position being executive vice president and secretary of the Board of Directors.
Through his work with First National Bank, he assisted many citizens as they worked toward their professional and personal goals. He was described as an officer with heart being “kind, generous, and focused on his customers’ best interests.”
On August 16, 1948, Partee married Alma Jean Franks. Married for more than 68 years, friends and family recognize their commitment and love for each other. In 1954, they were blessed with a son, Paul, and in 1962, a daughter, Angela. As time moved forward, Paul married his wife, Kathy, and they graced Partee with three granddaughters, Emily, Laura, and Susan. Angela married Bill Brasher and they blessed him with two grandsons, Stephen and John.
Partee was a man of service and he contributed significantly to his community. hrough his civic involvement, he helped his community grow and prosper through numerous organizations. Partee served Magnolia as a City Council member for 28 years. He was a charter member of the Magnolia Jaycees as well as a 50-year plus member of the Magnolia Rotary Club. His leadership as chairman of the Board for the Arkansas United Methodist Children’s Home benefitted children throughout the state of Arkansas. His role on the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association helped the entire state of Arkansas in its mission to fulfill healthier lifestyles for Arkansans. His role as director of the South Arkansas Development Commission assisted in developing business growth and prosperity for this region of the state.
As a former Boy Scout, Partee was pleased to be recognized as an Outstanding Scouting Alumnus by the DeSoto Council of Boy Scouts. Partee also served on the Board of Directors of the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce to help Magnolia grow and thrive with new business development. His involvement with United Way and Abilities Unlimited demonstrated his heart for serving Columbia County.
As a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 68 years, he served his church in numerous leadership capacities and was a faithful member throughout his life.
Partee is preceded in death by his parents William and Ruby Tuberville, and his brother, Oryen Tuberville.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 19 at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia.


Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Pam Estes officiating.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery following services.
The family requests that memorials be sent to First United Methodist Church of Magnolia, 320 West Main St, Magnolia, AR 71753.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Brasher, John Brasher, Kyle Taubken, David Grace, Danny Grace and Donald Grace. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Franks, Homer Greer, Jr., Howard Groves, Jim Garrett, O.L. Wise, Larry Burrow; Clegg Open Door Sunday school class; officers, directors, and employees of First National Bank; and the Muffin Men coffee group.
Partee Tuberville leaves a legacy of service, dignity, and respect for those in his community and a commitment of unconditional love to his family. May we all be inspired by his life and celebrate his contributions to all those he influenced in his family, community, church, and state. His life is one that is truly a “life well-lived.”
