*Obituary
Mary Riner Camp, 73 of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, Arkansas. She was born on October 13, 1945.
Mary's devotion to the Lord kindled a life-long journey that prompted Mary to pour herself into God's Word and study for many years to learn its beautiful precepts. Compelled to share this wisdom and understanding with others, Mary spent many faithful decades as a Sunday school teacher teaching all ages about the love of Christ.
A gifted Bible teacher with a heart for ministry, Mary taught Kay Arthur's precept studies for years before launching her own teaching ministry, Scarlet Thread Ministry. She co-hosted the “Scarlet Thread Conversations” radio talk show with Beth Anne Rankin, and later, Steven McAbee for nearly a decade sharing weekly lessons with her KZHE audience. Mary was welcomed into her Eternal Home in Heaven by many souls who came to the know the saving grace of Jesus through her teaching, ministry, and sharing of God's Word.
Mary's love for the Lord shined brightly displayed by her generous spirit in loving people in a multitude of ways. Her talent for cooking was known throughout the county, and her specialties included homemade bread, fried chicken, cinnamon rolls, and fried pies. Cooking brought a special joy to Mary’s heart and allowed her to show love to others who might be going through a difficult time. Throughout her life, she cooked thousands of meals, comforted broken hearts, and ministered with a selfless spirit that never asked for anything in return. Her loved ones will miss her steady hand, steadfast commitment, and unwavering loyalty. Mary is with Jesus, but her fingerprints will always be on our hearts.
Mary was a graduate of Magnolia High School, and Southern State College where she majored in education. She taught English in Fouke and San Antonio before becoming a homemaker and a dedicated Bible teacher.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Samuel Riner and Julia Laura Hughes Riner. Mary is survived by her husband Charles Camp; son, Charlie Camp; daughter, Laura Camp; daughter-in-law Shannon Camp; sister Margaret Hughes and her husband Charles; a brother, Sam Riner and his late wife Debbie; and many nieces and nephews all of Magnolia, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Ben Coulter, Kyle Jones, and Steven McAbee officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
