September 21, 1934 - November 2, 2015
H.L. Haynes, 81 of Magnolia Arkansas passed away peacefully November 2, 2015, at his Alexandria Louisiana residence. He was born September 21, 1934 in Waldo, Arkansas to the late John William Haynes and Carry LuCinda (White) Haynes. He married Helen LaFaye Richards in 1959, she quickly became his business partner and top hand as well.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son Tommy J. Dean; five siblings, Isaiah Haynes, J.C. Haynes, Albert Haynes, Junior Haynes, Leona (Haynes) Watters Evers and Shirley Haynes Moore; one nephew, Jerry L. Haynes; and one niece, Janie H. Lewis Parks; one grandson Christopher A. Fish. He survived by his, spouse Helen, son John W. Haynes and spouse Susan, and daughters Beverly Ann Haynes and Sheila K. Dean; a sister Virgie Kelly of Magnolia, sister in law, Corrie Mae Haynes of LA; grandsons Chad Wilson and fiancé Judith Cherry of TX, Wesley Haynes and wife Kristen of TX, Michael Dean and fiancé Stephanie Guijosa of TX; granddaughters Melinda Tigner and husband Mike of LA, Amanda Watson and husband Thomas of Magnolia, Jessica George and husband Nathan of LA, Kayla Dean of AR; honorary grandson Joseph McComas; nephews, Jimmie R. Haynes of TX, Jackie Haynes of AR, Bill Haynes, Kenneth G. Haynes, George R. Haynes all of LA; nieces, Karen H. Parks, Patsy W. Roberts, Connie H. Bovingdon all of LA, Sue H. Kennedy of Magnolia, and Barbara Moore Erlandson of Montana; ten great grandchildren and many other extended family members, friends and business associates. The family wishes to recognize Martha Turner of LA for her care and friendship.
H.L. Haynes formed his construction company in 1959 and built numerous motels for other developers. In 1969 He built his first hotel to be owned and managed by his own company. He eventually developed and managed a total of eight properties in Louisiana and Texas. These award winning properties and convention centers became valuable parts of their communities. He was recognized by the cities of Alexandria. LA and Pineville, LA for his contributions to the economy and community. He managed all his properties with a strong respect for his customers and a love and allegiance for his staff. He was an esteemed entrepreneur with a keen sense for business ventures but he was also a man who also knew the value of time with family and a good laugh. A lifelong resident, HL Haynes always considered Magnolia his home and he cherished this area.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday November 5, 2015 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Eric Goble officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation will Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be: Chad Wilson, Wesley Haynes, Michael Dean, Michael Tigner, Thomas Watson, and Nathan George. Honorary pallbearer will be Kolton Tigner.
