When Grover Cleveland Elrod was born on April 27, 1889, in Doniphan, Missouri, his father, George, was 28 and his mother, Mary, was 22. He married Theresa O. "Tressie" Stuard and they had three children together. He also had one son from another relationship. He died in June 1974 in Mayflower, Arkansas, at the age of 85.
