Beloved aunt, cousin, and friend, Mary Louise Lawrence Little died July 15, 2018, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Mary Louise Lawrence Little, daughter of the late William Ollie and Minnie Smith Lawrence, was born February 9, 1922 in Calico Rock, Arkansas. She was one of eight siblings all of whom have preceded her in death. Mary Little graduated from high school in 1940 in Diehlstadt, Missouri, and played center for their state championship basketball team. After high school she lived with her family in Melbourne and worked with the county court clerk. Enlisting in WWII on her 21st birthday, she served as Technical Sergeant in the 1550th Service Command Unit Separation Center, WAS Detachment and received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, WAAC Service Medal, and WWII Victory Medal. After the war, she went to Brawley, California area where she met and later married Ray Little, who worked as structural and civil engineer in his own firm and for the government. Later they moved to Melbourne, Arkansas for retirement. Ray and Mary were married for 66 years. Known for her spry character and carriage, at ninety-six Mary became ill after complications from falls.

She leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a graveside memorial service at Melbourne Cemetery at a later date.
