Barbara Michels Karnes Winn, 88, of Greenland, died on Jan. 23, 2010, at her home. She was born on April 17, 1921, in Mitchell, S.D., the daughter of Mathias H. and Anna Bell Michels. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Nick Michels; daughter Kay (Karnes) Presley, grandson, Jack Karnes; granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Harwood; husband, Gene Karnes and husband, Roy Winn.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Karnes and wife, Trudy of Springdale, John Karnes of Greenland; one daughter Judy (Karnes) Trimino and husband, Andy of Springdale; two stepdaughters Linda Lawson of Monument, Colo., and Carol Winn of Moscow, Pa.; one step-son, Mike Winn of Joplin, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Smith and husband Richard of West Fork, and Irene (Midge) Prouty of Huntsville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren, 12 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Jan. 26 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fayetteville with Father John Antony officiating. Cremation was by Moore's Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762 or the Arkansas Multiple Sclerosis Chapter, 1100 N. University, Suite 255, Little Rock, AR 72207.
