ROGERS — Kenneth Howard Banwart, 76, of Rogers, Ark., died May 22, 2014, at his home. He was born June 17, 1937, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to the late Orville and Berniece Banwart.
Kenneth moved to Arkansas in 1984 from Spirit Lake, Iowa. After 20 years, he retired from his position as head custodian at Grace Hill Elementary in Rogers where he was fondly known as "Mr. B." The 2012-2013 season marked his 20th and final year as an usher at the Razorback football and basketball games.
Kenn was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, Rogers, where he enjoyed volunteering and attending the men's Bible study.
His favorite hobby was golf, and you could find him playing with friends and grandchildren often.
Kenn will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Banwart; his parents; and one sister, Janet.
He is survived by his son, Jarrett Banwart of Chicago, Ill.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Banwart and Randy Thompson of Humble, Texas, June and Ken Burnett of San Antonio, Texas, and Sarah and Brian Smith of Bella Vista, Ark.; seven grandchildren, James and Logan Cooke. Kisa and Kendall Burnett, Fisher, Carter and Lydia Smith; and two great-granddaughters, Kaia Cooke and Nora Cooke. He is also survived by one sister, Linda Hill of Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at Peace Lutheran Church, 805 W. Olrich in Rogers.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Peace Lutheran Church.
Following the service, a reception will be held in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 805 W. Olrich, Rogers, AR 72756; Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762; or The First Tee of NW Arkansas, 715 E. Monroe Ave., Lowell, AR 72745.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
