FAYETTEVILLE — Wayne Counts, 84, of Fayetteville died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011. He was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Wesley, Ark., the son of Ottis Counts and Marie Stokenbury Counts.
He served with the United States Army in Europe in 1945 and 1946. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. He was a volunteer firefighter with the City of Fayetteville for 20 years. He loved many outdoor activities such as fishing and golfing, and was one of the original members of the Paradise Valley Golf Club in Fayetteville. He retired from Southwestern Electric Power Co. after many years of service.
He married Geraldine "Jerry" Davis, Feb. 29, 1956. After 55 years of marriage, he and Jerry passed away peacefully after brief illnesses.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Survivors include his son, Mark Counts and wife, Amy, of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Cassidy Counts, Jackson Counts and Carson Counts, all of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Harlan Counts and wife, Margaret, of Conyers, Ga., and Norris Counts of Springdale.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today, Nov. 16, 2011, at Beard's Funeral Chapel with Pastor Andrew Hall officiating. Burial will be at Baptist Ford Cemetery in Greenland under the direction of Beard's Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Washington Regional Hospice, 34 Colt Square, Fayetteville, AR 72703.

FAYETTEVILLE — Geraldine "Jerry" Counts, 83, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. She was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Greenland, Ark., the daughter of George J. Davis and Lena Cate Davis.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. She retired from Southwestern Energy after many years of service.
She married Wayne Counts, Feb. 29, 1956. After 55 years of marriage, she and Wayne passed away peacefully after brief illnesses.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Leonard Davis.
Survivors include her son, Mark Counts and wife, Amy, of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Cassidy Counts, Jackson Counts and Carson Counts, all of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, George Davis and wife, Joann, of Springdale; sister-in-law, Shirley Davis of Wichita, Kan.
