SPRINGDALE — Louis Marian Mcjunkin, 79, of Springdale, died Nov. 12, 2010, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Springdale Missionary Baptist Church.

He was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Lawton, Okla., to Elias Alfred and Anna Valentine (Jenkins) McJunkin. He was the youngest of 10 children. The family moved to Siloam Springs, Ark., in 1936.

He began working at a young age harvesting wheat in 1948. He later bought an Esso Station in Siloam Springs. He was drafted into the Army in 1951 to the 24th Infantry in the Korean War. After returning home, he married his sweetheart, Lois June Shay, of Gentry, on Nov. 6, 1953. He worked for McDonnell Douglas from 1953 to 1958. He started his own business, Noark Oil and Auto Supply on March 8, 1958, which is still in operation. He was president of the Kiwamis Club and Springdale Chamber of Commerce. He was elected to the first Quarum Court in Washington County and later elected to the State House of Representatives from 1984 to 1999. He was the chairman of the State Auditing Committee as well as serving on the board of directors for the Shiloh Museum and Arts Center of the Ozarks.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and six brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Lois, two sons and their wives: Steve and Tracey McJunkin and Kent and Linda McJunkin, both couples of Springdale, as well as three grandchildren: Adam, Kristie and Heather MvJunkin. He is also survived by a brother, Clarence McJunkin and his wife, Norma, of Caldwell, Idaho, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Pastor Wesley Hulvey officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.

Pallbearers are Larry Woods, Harvey Bowman, Reid Holiman, John Johnson, Tom Durham and Tom Fincher. Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Springdale Noon Kiwanis Club.

SPRINGDALE — Lois June Shay McJunkin, 85, of Springdale, died Nov. 17, 2018, at Shiloh Nursing and Rehab in Springdale. She was born April 7, 1933, in Gentry, Ark., to Charles Wesley Shay and Florence Fern Porter Shay.

She was the third of four children. She graduated from Gentry High School in 1951. She married her sweetheart Louis Marian McJunkin on Nov. 6, 1953. Lois was a loving wife, who supported her husband in all that he did, including all 15 years in the state Legislature.

She was a wonderful, nurturing and devoted mother to two sons, Steven Leon and Charles Kent. She was a leader, and was very involved in many ladies auxiliaries and organizations. She was an active member of Springdale Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She loved to be with her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Charles Wesley Shay, Jr. and sister Joyce Shay Hamby; husband Louis McJunkin and son Steve McJunkin.

She is survived by her son, Kent and wife Linda McJunkin; daughter-in-law Tracey McJunkin-Modlin; three grandchildren, Adam McJunkin and wife Tamara, Kristie and husband Ray Hernandez and Heather McJunkin, as well as three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Gerald Shay of Gentry, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Pastor Larry Graber officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
